Earlier this week, the District mailed home transportation schedules for QUEST Regional and PAGE students.  If you have not yet received a copy of the schedules in your mailbox, you can view the schedules here:

Early start elementary schools (Brouillet, Sunrise, and Zeiger) list a QUEST program start time of 8:05 – 15 minutes earlier than the regularly scheduled school start time.  Late start elementary schools (Maplewood, Meeker, Northwood, Pope, and Shaw Road) list a QUEST program start time of 8:25 – 25 minutes earlier than the regularly scheduled start time.  Please plan your morning transportation accordingly.

If you have any questions about the transportation changes, the District Director of Transportation asks you contact him via e-mail at transportation@puyallup.k12.wa.us.  If you would like to discuss the changes with other parents, or need to try to find other parents you can work with to arrange supplemental transportation, we invite you to join our forum.

Everything I’ve read up until now says that Quest classes will start just 15 minutes earlier but an 8:25 start at Meeker is 25 minutes earlier. Did I miss something?

  2. ABC Board Says:

We have phone calls and e-mails out to several district representatives trying to clarify that issue. All late start elementary schools are in the same situation. We’ve not heard back yet, but will try again today to reach everyone.

OK, thanks. I’m sure you’ll keep us updated. 15 minutes early start means my child can probably keep going to her YMCA daycare and take their bus. 25 minutes means I need to look at other options. Thanks for keeping us informed.

I just got off the phone and was able to confirm that the QUEST Regional classes at the late start elementary schools will begin at 8:25 — 25 minutes prior to the start of regular school day. It was explained to me that the extra ten minute shift was necessary to make the transportation schedules work across the district. Please plan accordingly.

I’m a little confused as to the after-school transportation situation. I was originally told that transportation would be provided to students in the mornings only and that after school was the parent’s responsibility. Then, yesterday I was reading through some papers and it said, “In the afternoon, students will ride a district bus back to the neighborhood school in time to take their normal bus runs home.” Which is correct?

  6. ABC Board Says:

If your child attends one of the schools that feed the QUEST Regional sites, the afternoon shuttles will transport your children from the QUEST Regional site back to their neighborhood school. Those shuttles will arrive in time for your child to ride the bus from their neighborhood school to your home. If the QUEST Regional site is your neighborhood school, the District will provide supervision for your child from the end of the QUEST day to the end of the regular school day (a 15 to 25 minute difference).

There will also be morning shuttles from the neighborhood feeder schools to the QUEST Regional sites, but the morning shuttles leave the neighborhood schools early — before the regular bus run would arrive. Parents are being asked to provide for transportation in the morning, either to the neighborhood school in time to take the shuttle to the QUEST Regional site, or directly to the QUEST Regional site.

The old pull-out program used to provide morning transportation to the central pull-out site, leaving responsibility for transportation home up to the parents, but there was never any plan to continue that model this year.

That’s great! Thank you so much for the updated information. My son and I are both looking forward to the new school year.
