I hope that the summer has treated you all well.  There hasn’t been much news to add to the ABC blog, but that’s going to be changing in short order.

I’m in Vancouver, B.C. this week for the 18th World Conference on Gifted and Talented Children.  Today was the first full day of the conference, and I’ve got a long list of things to write about already!  I heard from and spoke to gifted experts from around the US, and from New Zealand, Australia, Turkey, Scotland, Canada, and many more nations around the globe.  One thing that we should all be proud of is how far ahead of the game we are in Puyallup in many respects, both in regards to the programs that are offered by our district, and the support available from ABC and our parents.  Tomorrow I hope to be able to get together with a group of parents to discuss our successes and those areas that remain as challenges to us all.  I’ve already been able to talk one on one with a number of parents who would give anything for what we already have in place.  I’m looking forward to hearing from others who can give me suggestions on how we can make our offerings even better.

I’ll leave you with a link to a video I saw today.  Created in New Zealand to raise awareness and understanding of dyslexia, “The Closer You Get, The Bigger I Look” delivers a message that parents and advocates of highly capable children can also appreciate.
