I know we have requested a lot from you recently but we are back, asking for one more effort. Things are happening in Olympia tonight and tomorrow so your messages need to go out tonight if at all possible.
Please contact your legislators (both the house and senate) with a very short and positive message about education reform bills, no more than four or five sentences, along the lines of:
I support the gifted provisions in ESHB 2261, Sec. 104(2)(g) and Sec. 508, and ask that they be included in any bill for education reform. Our gifted students need and are entitled to what is for them a “basic education.” [put your own personal reasons here if you want; short and sweet] Please support the inclusion of Highly Capable programs in the definition of Basic Education. It will provide the financial stability these programs need.
I trust you have already done something along these lines, but we are in great need of one more effort. I’m sure you already know who your legislators are and how to contact them by email or the hot line so I won’t repeat that information. If you’re not sure, you can find it here in one of our other recent posts. You can send one message through the Legislative website www.leg.wa.gov that will reach all three of your district’s elected legislators.
